The
Zuse Institute Berlin (ZIB) is an interdisciplinary
research institute for applied mathematics and data-intensive high-performance computing.The GWDG forms the NHR-North
together with the ZIB and their joint expert consulting network. The North German Supercomputing Alliance (HLRN) was
founded in 2001 by the merger of the six federal states of Berlin, Hamburg, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Lower Saxony
and Schleswig-Holstein. The HLRN network is part of the national HPC infrastructure and jointly operates a distributed
supercomputer system located in two operating centres University of Göttingen and Zuse Institute Berlin.
