CLARIN-D is the German joint project within the European research syndicate CLARIN. This project aims to create an integrated, interoperable and scalable research infrastructure for language-centered research in the humanities and social sciences. CLARIN focusses especially on the requirements of philological disciplines on text annotation or skills for semantic analyses. Linguistic data, skills und services should be easier available as up to now.
As one of three top efficient data centres in Germany the GWDG is responsible for grid, cloud and similar generic structures in the project.
The GWDG takes part of the development of EPIC API version 2 in order of the Max Planck Institute for Psycholinguistics, located in Nijmegen.
The GWDG is responsible for PID services. PID is a persistent identifier to ensure its long-lasting accessibility of data and is part of a strategy for the long-term preservation.
The research network CLARIN-EU involves 23 certified Centres (June 2017) and other members out of universities or research centres. The membership figure is growing continual.
In the German CLARIN network eight centres from Germany and one from the Netherlands are interconnected.
The coordination of CLARIN-D is hold by the General Linguistics and Computational Linguistics section of the Department of Linguistics at the University of Tübingen.
